{From West Briton and Cornwall Advertiser 2 March 1916}

Mr. E.L. Carlyon held an inquest at the Institute, St Agnes yesterday touching the death of George Barnecutt, aged 25 years, of Jericho Bottoms, St Agnes, whose body was found in a pool at Jericho Bottoms on Tuesday.
Elijah Thomas, who found the body said the water was about two feet deep. It seemed as if deceased had been walking on the adjoining path and had fallen in. Witness has heard that deceased suffered from fits. It looked as if he had fallen in accidently, as there were no signs of a struggle or anything to suggest suicide.
Mrs. Edith O'Brien said her brother had been subject to fits for some time. He was on his way to work and had tp pass the spot where his body was found. He did not work in the morning, as he had three fits the previous night. He left home at 1.30 p.m. to go to his work. Deceased must have had a fit and fallen into the watre.
The jury (Mr. R. King, foreman), returned a verdict of "Found drowned, probably through a fit."
