Eliza Gover

Was baptised on 26th February 1819 in the parish of Farlington - St Andrews.

During the census of 1841 Eliza [20] was living in Lion Place, Portsea, Portsea Island in the household at the same time was a Robert Pearce [45].

Eliza married Robert PEARCE on the 20th June 1841 at St Mary's, Portsea.

Robert PEARCE was born in 1820 in Bosham, Sussex.

In the census on 31st March 1851 Eliza was living in St Vincent St, Portsea with 3 sons and 2 daughters. Her occupation was given as SEAMANS WIFE.

In the census of 1871 Robert and Eliza were living at 42 Northam St, Portsea. Roberts occupation was given as BEER RETAILER. Living with them on census night was their son Matthew and 2 visitors - Eliza and James Newell.

On the 3rd April 1881 Robert and Eliza were living at 32 Sydenham Terrace, Portsea with 3 of their children. Roberts ocupation was given as RETIRED MASTER MARINER, their son Richards was given as MARINER - MERCHANT SEAMAN and their son Matthew was a PAINTER.

During the census of 1891 Robert [70] living on own means and Eliza [71] were living in Sydenham Terrace, Portsea, Portsea Island. With them at this time were their sons Richard [35] living on his own means, Matthew [33] a Painter and their daughter Eliza L [39] living on own means.

Robert died at the age of 71 during the 2nd quarter of 1891 within the Portsea Island registration district.

Eliza died at the age of 80 during the 1st quarter of 1899 within the Portsea Island registration district.
