Arthur Gover

Was born on 10th November 1871 at 1 Seymour Street, Portsea.

On the 3rd April 1881 his occupation in the census was given as SCHOLAR and he was living with his parents and a brother and sister at 74 Seymour Street, Portsea.

In the census on 5th April 1891 his occupation was given as CURRIERS APPRENTICE and he was living in Seymour Street, Portsea.

There is a possibility that Arthur married either an Emily Elizabeth Ross or an Elizabeth Aldridge during the 4th quarter of 1891 within the Portsea Island registration district (2B, 1056). Any help with confirming this would be greatly appreciated.

On th 31st March 1901 Arthurs occupation is given as LEATHER MERCHANT own acct and he is living as a boarder at 15 Gunner Street, Portsmouth in the household of his sister Mary [37] and her husband William [36] a Seaman Royal Navy. Arthur is also given as a widower.

On 29th September 1939 Arthur [67] a Shopkeeper Retired was living at 38 Wymering Road, Portsmouth C.B.

There is a possibility that Arthur died during the 1st quarter of 1943 within the Portsmouth registration district.
