Alfred James Beer

Was born about 1867 possibly in Ireland.

Alfred James married a Helen Elizabeth Passells during 1889.

Helen Elizabeth Passells - was born during the 3rd quarter of 1868 in the Portsea Island registration district.

During the 1871 census Helen Elizabeth [2] and her parents William [26] a MATE OF STEAM LAUNCH and Emily Ann[24] and her sister Emily Kate [1] were lodging at 5 Cumberland Street, Portsea.

On 5th April 1891 during the census Alfred J [28] and Helen E [22] were living in Wiltshire Street, Portsea with their son James V [6 months].

During the census of 1901 Ellen (Helen?) Beer [32] and her father William [53] a widower whose occupation was given as LICENSED VICTUALLER was living at 17 High Street, Portsmouth with Williams daughters, Bessie [19] and Lillian [17] and sons George [23] a TELEGRAPHIST, Arthur [21] an ACCOUNTANTS CLERK, and Frank [16] . Also in the household were Williams nephew James Beer [10] and nieces Daisy [8] and Emily [6].

In the 1911 census Helen Beere [42] and her father William [67] a Hotel Manager was living at the Gloucester Hotel, St George Road, Portsmouth. With them at this time was Williams daughters, Bessie [29], Lilian [27], son Frank [26], granddaughter Helen Beere [18] all Assisting in Business, grandaughter Emily Beere [16] and a boarder Grattan Hardy [49] Private Means.

It is possible that Helen died during the 3rd quarter of 1958 in the Petersfield registration district at the age of 90.
