Arthur Vivian ROGERS

345. Arthur Vivian ROGERS, son of Mark ROGERS and Emma Jane BARNECUT, was born on 22 November 1876 (date from Attestation Papers) in Liskeard.

Arthur appeared in the census on 5 April 1891 aged 14 at this time he was a Wheelwright Painters Apprentice. He was living in Cambridge Street, Plymouth, Devon, England with his parents Mark [42] a Wheelwright Painter and Emma [42]. His brother Sidney [4] was also in the household.

Arthur Vivian married Edith Amelia HOSKIN during 1897 in Stoke Damerel, Devon.

Edith Amelia HOSKIN, was born about 1878.

During the census on 31 March 1901 Arthur aged 24 whose occupation was Carriage Painter and Edith [28] were living at 65 Kings Gardens, Plymouth. Living with them was their daughter Ivy [3]. (RG13/2102/39/70)

During the census on 2 April 1911 Arthur Vivyan aged 34 who was a Coach Painter and Edith Amelia [38] were living at 40 Lisson Grove, Mutley, Plymouth. Living with them was their daughter Ivy May [13] and son Sidney Arthur [1]. (RG14PN12948 RG78PN747 RD276 SD1 ED10 SN55)

Sometime after the 1911 census and before October 19 1911 Arthur Vivian went to Canada.

Edith and children Ivy and Sidney departed from Bristol, England on 19 October 1911 to go to Quebec, Canada. They were on the ship Royal Edward of the ROYAL. Northern Canadian Steamships Limited line.

Arthur Vivian enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expedition Force in Toronto on 11 August 1915. He was discharged on 24 May 1919.

During the 1921 census of Canada Arthur aged 44 whose occupation was Operator and Edith A [44] were living at 11 Borden Street, West Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
