A" popular Merrylands girl figured as bride in a pretty wedding at St.John's, Parramatta, on Saturday, when Miss Joy' Banes, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Banes, Belmont-street, Merrylands, was married to Mr. Ernest Tooker, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. P Tooker (Roseville).
The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon Begble.
Magnolia satin with a long train and a tulle veil held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms -was worn by the bride, who was given away by her father. She carried a beautiful bouquet of arum lilies. The bridesmaid was Miss Nancy Banes (bride's sister), who chose apricot Lombardy crepe, with brown velvet trimings. She wore a coronet of nasturtiums, and carried a bouquet of autumn trimmed chrysanthemums with brown velvet streamers.
Mr. Jack Jamieson :(Roseville) was best man.
Between 40 and 50 guests attended the- reception, which was held at the Woolpack- Hotel. They were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy tailored costume with stone marten furs. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, wearing cashmere de soie and a-spray of pale pink roses; Mr. Bert Tooker was chairman.
Dainty decorations, in which white and -pale pink flowers featured, evoked admiring comment.
The couple left later to spend their honeymoon at Mount Victoria, the bride travelling in a black tailored costume.
Their future home is at Strathfleld.
